Weymouth Hospital

Weymouth Community Hospital is situated near the seafront, close to the town centre. They have an Urgent Treatment Centre which is staffed by a variety of healthcare practitioners, nurses and doctors who are able to see, treat and discharge a wide range of urgent minor injuries and ailments.

Weymouth Beach Contacts

Weymouth beach is a curving sandy beach that stretches from the Pavilion to the Pier Bandstand. It is very gently shelving and offers safe swimming. Beyond the Pier Bandstand the beach becomes pebbly and it is at this end of the beach that floating rafts are put out during the summer for competent swimmers to swim out to. Pedalos and paddle boards can be hired on the beach when the conditions are right.

The Beach Office is located near the Kings Statue on the Esplanade and is open to the public 7 days a week between May and September. Contact Weymouth Beach Office for lost property and disabled access to the beach. Beach wheelchairs are available to be hired subject to availability. During the Summer, deck chairs and wind breaks can also be hired out on the beach.

RNLI Lifeguards

In high season (May to September), RNLI Lifeguards patrol Weymouth Beach providing advice, first aid and keeping you safe. Please heed any signs and always swim between the flags

Dogs on Weymouth Beach

Generally, dogs are permitted all year round within a restricted area.

No dogs on the main beach from Good Friday – 31st October inclusive. Greenhill Gryne to Overcombe and Bowlease Cove and the dog exercise area (By Pavilion) all year round. Greenhill Groyne to dog exercise area (Main sandy beach_ – 1st November to Good Friday.

Travelling to Weymouth

Weymouth Train Station

Weymouth is the end of the line for trains from London via, Southampton and Bournemouth on the South West Trains Network and from Bristol and Bath on the Great Western Trains network. There is no left luggage office at this station. The Weymouth train station is located on King’s Street, just a few minutes away from the Jubilee Clock.

Weymouth Bus Station

There is no bus terminus in Weymouth. Buses are operated by Wessex First Group and all buses pick up and drop off at shelters near the Kings Statue on the Esplanade.

Walking and Cycling in Weymouth

Within Weymouth and Portland there are 24 miles cycling routes. You can find interactive cycling maps here.

Cycling is allowed on Weymouth Esplanade any time between 1st November and Good Friday.


Between Good Friday and 1st November cycling is allowed on the Esplanade before 10am or after 5:30pm. 

Driving in Weymouth

With the addition of Weymouth Relief Road which was built in time for the 2012 Olympic sailing events, the road links into our town from around the country have never been better. And once you get here getting around Weymouth is a piece of cake! Weymouth Town Centre has ample parking spaces and an excellent Park and Ride service.

Weymouth Car Parks

Weymouth Pavilion and Weymouth Swannery offer the cheapest parking in Weymouth during the summer. Their operating hours at 8am – 6pm and are free outside these hours.
