There are two theatres in Weymouth to enjoy, one overlooking the beach and one for performances from local and visiting students of the performing arts.
The Weymouth theatre can be found on the seaside on a man-made peninsula on the southern end of the beach. Here you can take in favourite shows such as That’ll be the Day or see famous names such as Ken Dodd. For those who like something a little heavier there are visiting international rock bands such as Sepultura, or for families, Pirates of the Pavilion is on throughout the summer. Local drama groups also put on their performances at the Pavilion – see the Pavilion website for more details.
For something a little more thoughtful, make your way to Weymouth College’s Bay Theatre for performances from local and visiting students of the performing arts. Or why not try the Weymouth Cineworld multiplex cinema which hosts live-to-screen real time showings of Shakespeare plays, operas and ballets. Then you can enjoy a meal at one of the excellent fish restaurants, overlooking the idyllic harbour, before going for a moonlight paddle on the beach. Weymouth has it all!
