Kingston Maurward Gardens and Animal Park are a well established tourist attraction in Dorset attracting over 30,000 visitors a year.
The Gardens are grade II listed and whether you are a serious gardener or just someone who is looking for a beautiful place to visit they will not disappoint you.
There is a huge variety of plants and trees to see and don’t miss the walled garden which is a really peaceful spot. The gardens are tended by just 5 full time gardeners with help from students on various types of horticulture courses.
The Animal Park was established in the early nineties and offers the animal care students an excellent facility to care for a very diverse range of animals.
The Park has become a member of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust and over the coming months it is believed that the curators plan to extend its range of rare breeds and breeding programmes. Those planning on a great family day out will be pleased to discover that the park is the perfect picnic venue and represents a safe environment for children to play in for hours and also interact with the many friendly animals that live there.
