In previous years it has been reported that Weymouth is one of the best places in Europe to celebrate the New Year and enjoy one of the biggest parties in town!
There are a whole host of things going on in Weymouth for New Year’s Eve, there are fireworks on the Peninsular, loads of ticketed events including at Rendezvous and The Front Live and bars and pubs with free entry, if you fancy seeing in 2019 in style without spending a fortune.
The most important thing to know about an NYE spent in Weymouth is that fancy dress is pretty much NOT optional!
We Are Weymouth has been working closely with First Bus Dorset to provide a bus service in the early hours of New Year’s Day. This is to enable both residents and visitors to enjoy the festivities in the town.
Simon Goff, Head of Operations for First Wessex said: ‘We are delighted to support We Are Weymouth with providing buses for the high-profile New Year’s Eve event. The bus has an important role to play in connecting communities, reducing congestion and helping to achieve cleaner air for Weymouth and South Dorset’
First Bus will be running bus services on the No.1 to Wyke Regis and Portland, No.2 to Littlemoor, No.8 to Chickerell and No.10 to Dorchester and Poundbury.
Claudia Webb from Weymouth BID said “The night time economy and Purple Flag Accreditation is one of the key objectives in our plan and as New Year’s Eve is always a great party time in Weymouth we have been working hard to create safe ways of getting home after the celebrations in Weymouth. We are hoping that even more people will choose to come to Weymouth to party the night way and enjoy time in the many restaurants, bars and clubs.”
This service should be of great benefit if you’re out for a night on the tiles in Weymouth on New Year’s Eve.
For the first time ever, courtesy of We Are Weymouth, there will be a fantastic fireworks display for everyone looking to celebrate New Years Eve in Weymouth.
The Weymouth New Years Eve Fireworks Display will launch from the Nothe Fort at midnight and will be able to be viewed from along the seafront, around the harbour and behind the Pavilion.
