This weekend is a fantastic time to come and visit Dorset! Enjoy all of the events in and around the area. Why not make an impromptu weekend away? Bring the family and have a whale of a time at a weekend in Weymouth!
These events this weekend are not to be missed; from old classics such as the Dorset County Show to the new Food Rocks Festival.
Waterfest Weymouth, 5th & 6th September, is a celebration of Weymouth’s maritime heritage with awesome displays, maritime music, delicious food, interactive exhibitors and much more.
Last year’s event was a huge success and Waterfest Weymouth 2015 is set to be even better!
With the return of old favourites such as the Le Marité French tall ship and the Aquatic Jetpacks, plus new additions to this year’s programme, maritime woodcarver Andy Peters, The Forgotten Wrecks Discovery Bus, The Royal Navy Dive Tank and much more, this is one event not to be missed.
Step aboard the “Excelsior” a 1921 fishing smack, voted one of the 40 most important historic vessels in the UK or Sir Francis Chichester’s iconic 54ft ketch Gipsy Moth IV. Try your hand at some maritime crafts or taste some delicious food from one of the stands around the harbour.

This is the 175th Dorset County Show and the event is still going as strong as ever! The
Run by farming families and those with an interest in farming, horticulture, food and the countryside.
Competitions bring out the best from the area to challenge for the cups, trophies and awards. Food and drink are abundant in all corners of the showground, entertainment is laid on and best of all it becomes one big social event for Dorchester and Dorset.
Enjoy watching a great programme of events in areas from farm animals, tractors, homecraft and horticulture, horses and ponies, vintage cars, fun fair and much much more.
Generously sponsored by VZUG, Bulthaup Exeter, Lyme Bay Holidays, Palmers Brewery and By The Bay, Food Rocks is a fun-filled weekend of demonstrations, masterclasses and tastings held all around the town of Lyme Regis, between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 4th and Sunday 6th September.
Food Rocks has been organised to raise money for the RNLI while having great fun, tasting some amazing food and drink from Dorset, and learning lots from local chefs and producers. The marquee and demo stage, sponsored by VZUG premium Swiss quality appliances and Bulthaup Exeter, will be situated at the bottom of Lister Gardens overlooking the beach.
One of Dorset’s quirky events, the Bridport Hat Festival returns for its sixth year this weekend!
Get creative and wear your wacky hat throughout the streets of Bridport. Join in with thousands who take part in this event! It’s not just about the hats there will be competitions, stalls, food and drink, music and much more.
