It may not be 1872, with Queen Victoria on the throne of England, however, throughout the year, when the Nothe Fort Artillery are on parade, it is quite easy to imagine you have travelled back almost one and a half centuries in time.
A colourful event involving re-enactors from our Nothe Fort Artillery. A great family Day Out with interactive living history and a chance to learn about the artillery who were stationed here during the Victorian period.
The construction of the Nothe Fort began in 1860 The job was then given to 26 Company of the Royal Engineers. Some fifty sappers completed the task, using a myriad of great twelve-inch-square oak scaffold poles carrying steam gantries and cranes.
Nothe Fort Artillery and conducting individual demonstrations to our visitors. Including the “Ceremony of the Keys”. Kid’s gun run, musket firing, cannon firing and much more.
The two day period will be packed full of events, many interactive, giving visitors of all ages plenty of entertainment throughout the weekend. If you like loud bangs and gun fire, this event is for you. Please be aware pets make take a different view.
