2 weeks to go until Waterfest Weymouth, 3rd-4th September, FREE festival celebration of Weymouth’s maritime heritage with shanty music, historic vessels and delicious street food.
Discover the art of maritime crafts at this year’s Waterfest Weymouth.
Be amazed by the work of the Boat Building Academy from Lyme Regis. The finished products from the academy’s world renowned courses showcase the depth of building techniques taught. Admire a beautiful hand-built wooden canoe and clinker-build dinghy.
The Boat Building Academy’s experts teach a wide range of boat-building techniques specialising in modern and traditional wooden construction.
Get yourself in knots with The Solent team of Knot Tyers. Learn traditional knots and give it a go yourself! There will be many people on hand to help as the new Dorset-based team will be at the event too.
Get the kids involved with the Discovery Bus which will be located on Custom House Quay. Learn about shipwrecks of the First World War and maritime archaeology! Try on a dive kit, try a mini-airlift and crash out on the bean bags.
Make sure you keep your eyes peeled over the weekend and spot Captain Jack Sparrow with his trusty mate walking around the harbourside. Get your face painted at the Diamond Faces stands to get that perfect pirate look!
