As some of us are looking forward to those warmer days where we can spend a day at the beach or sit on the harbourside with a drink and eating fish & chips, unfortunately the weather forecast at the moment is having other ideas!
With temperatures dropping below freezing this week and with snow forecasted on Wednesday 28th February & Thursday 1st March, you’ll be wanting to keep as warm as possible… But that doesn’t mean you have to stay at home and stop enjoying the many activities and things-to-do that Weymouth has to offer!
So, here is a list of warming things-to-do in Weymouth…
Watch a film at the Cinema
Cineworld Weymouth has a variety of movies on offer – all day, every day. Take a friend or take the family, it’s time to get cosy and grab some popcorn and enjoy the latest releases. Don’t forget, they’ve recently dropped their prices, so it’s not going to break the bank!
Challenge your friends and family to a game of Tenpin Bowling
MFA bowl in Weymouth is situated in the middle of town with a car park right outside the front door. Get competitive and enjoy yourself. MFA bowl also has a range of arcade games and other amusements such as Pool tables. You can even grab a bite to eat and have a drink from the bar too!
Grab a hot drink and a slice of cake
Weymouth is not short of coffee shops and cafe’s, that’s for sure… If you’re in town, it’s almost impossible not to see one whichever way you turn. Get inside and enjoy a warming drink and a bite to eat and catch up with a friend.
Watch a show at the Pavilion
Weymouth Pavilion is constantly introducing new and exciting shows all year round. Take a look at their events calendar – if something takes your fancy, book a ticket, take the family and laugh, cheer and sing the evening away!
Eat out for dinner or lunch
Again, Weymouth is not short of places to eat. With a range of restaurants across a variety of cultures, from curry houses to French, Chinese, Italian (or even a traditional pie or burger!), there’s lots of tasty ways you can enjoy your evening whilst staying inside in the warm…
Get lost in the history of Weymouth
There’s more to the history of Weymouth than you may think… Want to find out more? Visit the Nothe Fort or Weymouth Museum! With the Weymouth Museum re-opening on Saturday 3rd March (with FREE entry until March 16th!), there’s plenty of new and exciting things to discover about Weymouth from many years ago. Alternatively, the famous Nothe Fort will never fail to interest you about the war time – previously being Weymouth & Portland’s main line of defence during the war. You can discover both indoors!
Jollie Ollie’s play area
Looking to entertain the kids for hours on end? Head to The New Vic on Weymouth Esplanade, where kids can enjoy themselves for a small charge in the supervised, two-storey adventure play area, Jolly Ollie’s, while you enjoy a drink and a meal in the bar.
A children’s menu is available, if you are able to tear them away from the play area!
Wrap up warm and stroll along the Esplanade
Not wanting the cold weather stopping you from staying active? Put the layers on, wrap up in hat & gloves and take a good ol’ walk along Weymouth’s picturesque esplanade. Take a friend, take the family or even take a four-legged friend (dogs allowed on the beach until 31st March). Embrace the beauty of Weymouth whilst getting some exercise, and warm up with a hot drink from one of the many kiosks along the seafront. If you’re feeling fit, start from Weymouth Pavilion and walk all the way to Bowleaze Coveway and enjoy a drink or a bite to eat at Cafe Oasis or the Lookout Cafe before heading back.
Chill out with a relaxing massage
Fancy some time on your own or with a friend to have some relaxation time? There are plenty of places in Weymouth to lie down in the warm while you recieve a bit of TLC… Or even pamper yourself and get your hair or nails done to get that fresh look!
Feeling extra-active and want to get fit?
Alternatively, get your heart pumping in order to keep you warm and cycle in and around Weymouth and get that sense of achievement! Weymouth has many cycling routes to endure… Remember to layer up!
