Awesome Displays and Attractions on the Water at this year’s Waterfest Weymouth, 5th-6th September
This year Waterfest will be held on Saturday September 5th, 11am – 6pm and Sunday 6th, 11am-5pm. The event celebrates Weymouth’s strong maritime heritage with sailing, diving, crafts, seafood, shanty music as well as entertainment on and off the water!
STEP aboard last year’s favourite, Le Marité the French schooner. This renovated three-masted schooner hails from Granville, France and, if the weather is kind, it may make its dramatic full-sail exit on Sunday 6th out Weymouth Harbour.
Excelsior a 1921 fishing smack, voted one of the 40 most important historic vessels in the UK and Sir Francis Chichester’s iconic 54ft ketch Gipsy Moth IV are also in the harbour waiting to be explored.
WITNESS the thrilling display from the Aquatic Jetpacks that takes place in the centre of the harbour on both days of the festival. Watch the spectacular dolphin dives and the NEW hover-board displays. Last year, the Aquatic Jetpacks were a real hit with visitors and crowds formed around the harbourside to catch the display.
Local clubs will also be showing their skills with gig races by The Weymouth Gig Rowing Club and dinghy displays by Weymouth Sailing Club.
TAKE to the water with one of the opportunities the festival has to get you having a go! Visitors can try exciting RIB rides from the harbour and ½ day sails in Gipsy Moth IV in the days following the festival.
The performances of the HM Royal Marines Plymouth Corp of Drums at locations around the harbour will also make for a joyous display of sound and colour.
