Over the weekend adults, kids and even PETS freaked out in Weymouth’s streets on Spooky Saturday as part of Freaky Streets which took place from the 22nd-30th October.
Spooky Saturday, 29th October, had a mix of entertainment throughout the day included Pirates of the Pavilion’s own Molly the Mouse’s Pumpkin Party, spooky stories and Grisly Games from Wessex FM.
Pets donned their freakiest dress to take part in the NEW Freakiest Dressed Pet competition too! Dogs and cats attended the event to be in with the chance of being awarded the freakiest pet accolade. The competition was proudly sponsored by Dave Cumber Vets who attended the day promoting the new surgery opening at Link Park on the 14th November. Dave Cumber & Mayor of Weymouth & Portland judged the Freaky Pet competition as well as the children’s Freaky Fancy Dress.
Throughout the week local and visiting children took part in the Freaky Streets Hunt which led them around the town’s streets in search of freaky characters on walls and buildings. Those who returned their forms were entered into a draw to win some ghoulishly good prizes! This year’s trail winner Amelia Green and runner-up Florence Edwards collected their prizes and were thrilled with their winnings.
Participants in the Freaky Streets Hunt also judged businesses window displays. This year’s proud winner of the coveted trophy was the Modern Barbers hairdresser in St Mary Street with Lazy Lunches in second place and Julia’s House 3rd. Weymouth & Portland Animal welfare took 4th place and Pure Hair & Beauty were 5th.
Freaky Streets promoted a host of events taking place throughout the week by businesses and attractions including Pumpkin Parties at Zizzy Pancakes, Fright Night at Fantasy Fun Island and a free Thriller workshop at Weymouth Pavilion.
