Today runners are taking part in the Virgin Money London Marathon but instead of running on tarmac through skyscraper-lined streets, why not check out the upcoming running and sporting events in Weymouth & Portland?
The Osprey Sprint – Triathlon 24/4/16
Yes that’s right on the exact same day Bustinskin Events will be holding its very own event at the Osprey Leisure Centre. This event is the perfect start for newcomers to the sport and an even better start to the 2016 season. The facilities at the Osprey are perfect for the swimming (which consists of 12 laps), then a scenic bike ride around Portland followed by a fantastic off-road coastal run.
Spectate and cheer on the runners today!
Egdon Easy 10k Run 23/5/16
Get ready for a nice easy run around one of Weymouths most scenic areas in Lodmoor Gardens . This race will be based at Weymouth College where there are facilities for changing, showering and refreshments!
Prizes in all categories: Junior (<19), Senior (<40) and Veteran (40+, 50+, 60+, 70+). Male and Female.
Dumble Bimble Charity Fun Run 6/9/16
The annual Dumble Bimble Charity Fun Run is off again, with a 2km walk/run for ages 0 – 100 and a 5 mile run for anyone 15 or over, so you’ve got the best of both worlds whether you want to race or ‘bimble’!
This race will start at Royal Manor Of Portland AC. With the race located right at the top of Portland it provides great views whilst keeping fit on this beautiful island!
Ironman and Ironman 70.3 9/11/2016
There’s no greater honour in the world of triathlons than to be able to host an Ironman sporting event and Weymouth has just that. With its long coastal paths, the sea right at our doorstep and beautiful nature reserves it’s no wonder Weymouth was chosen for this event. The swim will take place in Weymouth Bay, with the stunning backdrop of the Jurassic coastline. The cycling event will take place in the challenging Dorset Countryside. The multi-lap run will take athletes around the town, harbour and the historic Weymouth seafront.
