Top Ten Things to Do in Weymouth – Whitsun Bank Holiday

WE ARE looking forward to the bank holiday weekend….

With beach weather promised for most of the bank holiday and temperatures above average for the time of year.

Weymouth has lots of unique entertainment to enjoy over the bank holiday weekend of Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May and throughout the school break.


 

1. Fayre In The Square
Hope Square – 27th & 28th May

Fayre in the Square Panoramic

Fayre in the Square is a celebration of local music and talent, held over the Saturday and Sunday of the last Bank Holiday in May with the goal of raising monies for local groups and wider Rotary charities.

The entertainment is held in Hope Square and Trinity Road with live bands, street entertainment and loads to do for all the family!

2. Quayside Music Festival

First 2 Day music festival of 2017 on the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend! Lots of bands by the harbour and DAO Nightclub opens as well on Saturday at 10pm.

4. Sunday Vibes II
Ayya – Sunday 28th May

This Bank Holiday Sunday 28th May, Sunday Vibes is BACK at Ayya.

From 4pm some of Weymouth’s biggest and best musical talents during 10 hours of live music! Confirmed acts include Side Door ProjectPowellyThe LeggomenDanny Adams and

5. Fairground
Weymouth Pavilion 28th May – 4th June

Fairground open daily on the Pavilion Forecourt.


 

6. Open for Art
Artwey  20th May – 4th June

‘Open For Art’ is the new signature open studio Art event for South Dorset in May 2017. Featuring more than 80 artists in over 40 venues across the area, the event has been organised voluntarily by members of the not for profit arts organisation Artwey.

7. Wessex Folk Festival
2nd – 4th June

Hope Square during Wessex Folk Festival . We Are Weymouth.

One of the biggest free folk music festivals in England, the Wessex Folk Festival has grown to become one of Dorset’s favourite events, with thousands of music lovers visiting every year. With over 30 stage performances and many musicians and dancers around the town, this is without doubt not one to be missed!

8. Visit Weymouth’s No.1 Award Winning Beach

Few places in the country can compete with the three-mile stretch of Weymouth beach. The sandy unspoilt beach that extends almost as far as the eye can see.

9. Open Air Cinema 
Nothe Fort 2nd & 3rd June

Trainspotting, the 1996 black comedy featuring Ewan McGregor will be screened on the Friday.

Ghost, the romantic fantasy thriller film starring Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg will be screened on the Saturday.

Doors will open at 7:30 pm with the film starting at around 9:30 pm.  A licensed bar and cinema snacks will be available or feel free to bring a picnic.

10. Tall Ship Pelican Day Sail
27th May

PELICAN-0011Ever wondered what it would be like to sail on a traditional square rigger?

A full day on the water sailing from, and returning to, Weymouth.  A hot drink and biscuits, a hearty lunch, plus tea and cake in the afternoon all included.

Take part with crewing this magnificent ship or simply sit back and relax Day Sails are open to all ages from 12 to 80*- subject to conditions.

A great day out for families and groups.  Next Day sails not until 26th August 2017.
